Hanson Productions has been serving Southwest Michigan since 2002. The start of the business came with Dan volunteering to provide music for middle school dances at SUMC. Dan enjoyed the work and slowly started to expand things to better suit the needs of the kids. As the equipment expanded so did Dan's love for the entertainment aspect.
Slowly, paid work started to find its way into the mix and Dan was able to provide new services and in ways others couldn't.
With Dan's education in recording and live-sound, an expansion in that direction only seemed normal. House parties and bar bands is where it started, but touring bands, weddings and large school and corporate parties is where it has gone to.
Things for HP started small but fun. A home stereo system hooked up to a gaming system provided the first sounds. A few cheap, plastic spinning lights were purchased and, in Dan's eyes, things were "coming together nicely."
Soon after, an upgrade to a gateway 2000 server tower computer gave way to better music management and slightly better service. But the 60 pound box proved too bulky to carry around.
Slowly, new speakers (actual PA ones) were bought and even a few new lights. The system slowly became something that was slightly better than an average basement party system.
Then, a few large upgrades were made! New lights, including intelligent scanners, strobes, parcans and other mobile DJ lights made their way into the system. New trussing to hang all the lights was added. Even a new computer, Dan's college laptop (Shhhhh! Don't tell Dad) was added which greatly expanded the ease and use of the music.
Upgrades continued as the clients began asking for better things too. LED lighting for improved power consumption and intelligent lighting for better control of the dance floor atmosphere were added. A new Mac computer (You can tell Dad I bought this one...) gave a new kind of power to the music, and now things continue to move forward.
Only the future will tell what happens next but one thing is certain. Hanson Productions will continue to make the changes necessary to provide for your event Sound That Looks Amazing.
Dan is the man behind everything that is HP. Some call him crazy and some call him strange, but what you will definitely see is someone devoted to providing the best possible service in your best way. Dan loves to make people happy and strives to see smiles on everyones face.
In high school you could peg Dan as a "nerd" or a "geek." He sang in both church and school choirs (becoming choir president even) and performed in the marching and symphonic bands. Stage productions frequented Dan's schedule as well with performances in "Cinderella," "Peter Pan," "Assasins," and a few others.
Dan went to college at Western Michigan University and received a degree in music. What he won't often tell you is the degree he started at WMU was in education. Vocal education even. After spending two full years working towards that goal... Dan decided a change was necessary.
Dan got involved with Gold Company at WMU and with the WMU recording studio program. Both taught him valuable lessons and tools about work ethics, music business and just music too. Because of his background in vocal music and a passion for music itself, Dan brings to the table something unrivaled by any engineer or DJ.
